LIFTING LEVERS

Explore first class, second class & third class levers

in action while building a picker-upper for grandpa's glasses



B:

GEARS-GO-AROUND

Explore basic principles of gearing. Students will gain an understanding of gear ratios
and gearing up of a merry-go-round.










C:

PULLEY PATTER

Investigate compound belt drives, changing direction of rotation and speed while creating an entertainment machine

D:

WONDER WHEELS

Build a Billycart to investigate how adding weight and changing wheel size effects the distance a car travels on an incline

 E:

SUPER STRUCTURES

Investigate form and function of arches. Test strength and weakness. Build towers and stablise them with cables. Design your own bridge and test to destruction!


Workshop 2: EXPLORING ENERGY

GO GREEN CAR

Explore the use of a LEGO capacitor to demonstrate the transfer, transformation and storage of energy. Build a car and use stored energy to compete in the LEGO Grand Prix.







B.

LEGO LAND YACHT

Build a LEGO Land Yacht and use wind power to see it sail. Explore how you can store energy to use fo a non windy day. Make your yacht efficient as possible.




C.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

Explore the use of solar power and wind power. Discover how energy can be stored, transferred and transformed to run a ferris wheel.





D.

GO SOLAR

Build a LEGO house. Explore the use of solar power to turn on lights, and even operate a cooling system.

E.

PUMP IT UP

Explore LEGO pneumatic pumps, valves & cylinders to create air power. Inves 

 

Workshop 3: ROBOT ADVENTURES

A.

WeDo ROBOSoccer

Using new WeDo build a LEGO robot goalie and take the challenge to program and control it to stop you from scoring goals.




B.

WeDo CROCBOT

Build and program a LEGO crocbot with a motor and motion sensor to eat anything that comes its way.





C.

NXT SPACE RESCUE

With NXT robots  program light sensors and control motors to complete a rescue mission out of this world.




D.

NXT Green City

Program the NXT robots, using motors and light sensors, to block the dam, find the flower lady, and follow the road to activate the Green City

E.

ADVANCING WITH ROBOTS

Create more complex programs for the NXT robot using sensors & motors. Your robot will know how to follow a black line to find its own way around


Workshop 4: LEGO MOVIE MAKING

Build LEGO Movie Sets. Film the action using the LEGO camera and computer. Add titles, sound effects and edit to create blockbuster'. Choose a theme from the three choices below. Sit back to watch a show of short movies!!
